Can mbed be used in the commercial product? At the same time, the development may be stoped in the last year.
Mbed OS is licensed under permissive licenses such as Apache and BSD, so it’s compatible with closed-source and/or commercial applications. Additionally, the mbed-ce fork I work on is focused on making Mbed more suitable for serious and commercial use (and buildable without any cloud services). It is true that Arm hasn’t put any effort into new development for some time, but the OS is far from dead.
Though each platform’s update or contribution is slow, Arm still keep 2 engineers to manage & review pull request for mbed-os repository.
Is there any roadmap with the timeline for Mbed OS for bug fixing and adding new functionality? Is there any plan to reactivate the development of Mbed OS with a similar speed to the development of other modern operating systems for IoT devices?
There are many non-fixed problems at the moment and there is a lack of functionality like BLE FOTA (it worked a few years ago with nRF devices but has been removed from Mbed OS). BLE Cordio stack has not been updated for a long time.
