Is Keil Studio Cloud Down?

Anybody also having difficulty today with the Keil Studio Cloud?

Iā€™m having serious problems getting Keil Studio Cloud to run.

  1. It will not let me start a new mbed project (I want to load Keil Studio Cloud blinky and transfer my mbed OS IDE written code to the new Keil Studio workspace)
  2. The ā€˜loading example programsā€™ in the bottom right-hand side of the screen just spins away - if I go back and repeat the file>new>mbed I just get another ā€˜loading example programsā€™ message on above the previous one
  3. I cannot obviously select the target device, or make any program active
  4. When I plug an ST dev board or an NXP LPX Expresso board into the USB, it is not recognised, despite the PC showing a USB device with ā€˜DFUā€™ is attached
  5. Iā€™ve tried logging out and logging back in numerous times, but to no avail

[I am trying Keil Studio Cloud because I need to drag and drop program and have to transition away from Mbed studio IDE because a lot of the older s/ware was written on earlier version of mbed OS - e.g. mbed 2.0. I have updated my s/ware to cater for the deprecated APIs etc). Using an LPC1114 device

Anyone had similar issues? Any help appreciated.

Hello,

I do not use it anymore but tried it for you and everythingā€™s work like usually.

Here is maybe the DFU mode the issue. In DFU mode can not be used by KeilStudio I think.

I have the same issue, as does another collegue of mine. The active project and Build Targets are stuck on loading. and you practically canā€™t do anything:

Hello Georgios,

I wonder if there anyone we can contact at ARM about this? I am wondering if ARM have quietly walked away from this and have decided not to go public. If there isnā€™t an uproar from developers (I would have expected loads of complaints here for example) then maybe thatā€™s why theyā€™ve done it, I donā€™t know. Very disappointing situation. I canā€™t do any dev work unless I move across to a completely different platform like STCube IDE, but then I have to rewrite lots of the code (ST does not support C++) and change controllers. For this reason, Iā€™ve pulled back from that route. The problem for me with mbed Studio IDE is I cannot get the binary out to my LPC1114 target board.

What an absolute mess. :frowning:

But these are standard dev boards Jan, so I dont understand why the IDE does not recognise them. Are you on Windows?

Iā€™ve sent a request to ARM online support asking them if Keil cloud Studio is still running. Iā€™m not expecting much, but hopefully we will get a response.

Thank you Andrew, Please keep us posted

I am working on Win11 and MS Edge on two PCs.

Do not understand my wrong I do not say you can not have any issue I just say it is something specific and not a global problem.

About recognition. The Keil Studio Cloud (KSC) uses WebUSB as an interface between your debugger and KSC. Because you are using LPC1114 then the debugger is probably DAPLink and maybe a firmware update is necessary.
Try to look board page or DAPLink page directly

However some old board was not supported for direct connection and only posiiblibility was manual bin upload like with old Online compiler.

Yeah, me too,

Iā€™m having same issue here.

It is in that state and Iā€™m not able to start working.

As well, I donā€™t know how to use the new platform CMSIS. Itā€™s not straightfordward .

I hope ARM guys solve this soon.

Iā€™m from Japan.
Iā€™m having the same issue.
I had this problem on 2/14,
but I was able to use it on my home PC yesterday.
However, when I got to the office and started working,
the problem hadnā€™t been resolved.

Still not functional @ 8p PST. Thought we had until 2026 to find alternative IDEā€¦

Yes, ā€œActive projectā€ and ā€œBuild targetā€ show as Loadingā€¦ but not loading.

@JoeA any ideas?

BR, Jan

Itā€™s up !! Back to codingā€¦

still not up and running for me. I will take a look at the service ticket I raised with ARM to see if there is any update. I will let you guys know.

I took a look, but there is no update. ARMā€™s service ticket response does say they will first check to see if the user license is valid and that it is usually an automatic process.

I think we have to take it that Keil Studio Cloud is a very low priority. Might also be they are not accepting new users, or users whose accounts have expired i.e. been inactive for a while which mine was, and this is why for some of us, the thing just spins around.

If this is the case, I donā€™t know where we go from here because mbed studio isnā€™t supported anymore and neither is mbed studo cloud - we are basically on our own.

Sorry, no good news from my side - maybe someone else has a better idea?

I closed all other windows I had open in my browser and Keil Studio Cloud (KSC) sort of ran. My projects are listed and I can select a project but it is still not finding a device, or allowing me to select a device. I am trying to compile for a target board employing the LPC1114.

So, step one I think is make sure all windows in your browser are closed - it seems this helps.

But, there are still other issues to solve. As you can see, itā€™s not possible to either select a device, and KSC does not seem to recognize any of the 4 or 5 dev boards (LPC Expresso and ST boards) I have tried plugging in via the USB.

Further updates from my side. I created a new project using blinky baremetal as and was able to copy and paste the original program I was trying to compile into the new one. It is compiling now with errors.

I am able to select a device, but it doesnā€™t recognise any boards I plug into the USB (not that I mind, since I am compiling for a target).

Iā€™ll drop out now and give some further updates tomorrow.

(Separately, I was able to get Flashmagic ISP working ok this evening so can load in hex files to the controller flash and read the flash back)

Iā€™m checking from Tokyo.
The problem from yesterday has now been resolved.
It was a problem with the keil studio cloud server.
Thatā€™s good.
